EFR - Emergency First Response

Emergency First Response Training focuses on building trust in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency. Course participants learn the simple steps to follow for emergency care and practice skills application in a non-stressful learning environment. All courses are supported by self-study manuals, videos and quick reference posters to improve learning and allow you to start learning immediately. EFR Courses meets the CPR and first aid training requirements for the PADI Rescue Diver course and all professional grade grades. Most PADI instructors are also Emergency First Response instructors.

The following EFR courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care.

What you will learn:
- Primary Care (CPR) : This course teaches you the steps and techniques for dealing with life-threatening emergencies. You will practice eight skills to help patients who are not breathing, have no heartbeat, may have a spinal injury, may be in shock or who may have a severe bleed. You will learn how to perform CPR and continue to monitor the patient so that you can offer every possible chance of survival until the emergency medical service arrives.

- Secondary Assistance (First Aid) : Because many medical conditions are not life-threatening and emergency medical services are sometimes delayed or unavailable, this course teaches how to provide first aid that relieves pain and reduces the risk of further damage. . You will learn to evaluate a variety of injuries and illnesses and the practice of bandages and splints.

- Child Care : This course enables participants to learn, practice, and apply specific emergency care skills to help babies and children with medical emergencies. It is designed for those who work with children or are likely to have to respond to emergencies involving young people. This course is often integrated with Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses.

- CPR & AED : This course focuses on CPR training and participants teaching how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). At work or others where governmental requirements specify such training, the CPR & AED course meets the need. This course is often integrated into First Aid in work programs.

- First Aid at Work : In some areas, such as Britain, Australia and Canada, government regulations require increased CPR and workplace first aid training. First Aid in work programs designed for these areas include additional topics and skills to meet requirements while following the easy to learn EFR approach to training.
